Message from the Head of the Master Program of Industrial Technology

MATSUO Tokuro

AIIT’s Master Program of Industrial Technology offers a hands-on education, including project-based learning (PBL), with a curriculum designed to develop outstanding, highly skilled professionals who can take the lead in the industrial world. It has three courses: Business Systems Design Engineering Course, Information Systems Architecture Course and Innovation for Design and Engineering Course. Upon completion of the program, students can earn the Master of Technology in Business Systems Design Engineering, the Master of Technology in Information Systems, or the Master of Technology in Innovation for Design and Engineering, respectively. These degrees certify that students have completed the learning necessary to become highly skilled professionals, and the diplomas they receive at graduation are internationally recognized credentials.

The curriculum of our program has some distinctive features. First-year students take lecture-and-seminar-based courses that provide them with the knowledge and skills essential for highly skilled professionals. In the second year, they acquire substantial ability to perform tasks, or competency, through project activities in the PBL courses in both semesters. Competency means a personal ability or behavioral trait that produces superior results. Conventional education, which teaches knowledge and skills or focuses mainly on academic research, is insufficient to develop human resources that can produce outstanding achievements. Through PBL, students set practical goals and work in teams to solve challenging problems. They seek to change individual behavior and ultimately develop high-level task performance skills.

Our program also provides a system for working adults from diverse backgrounds to learn again as graduate students. We offer various entrance examinations so that many people can join the Institute to study, as the importance of lifelong learning is increasingly being called for. If you are interested in our program, we invite you to attend an information session first. I and the rest of the faculty look forward to meeting you at AIIT.
